(OCCA) is preparing for the 2015 Chinese New Year celebration gala on February 14, 2015 at 2:00pm at the Central Valley Elementary School in Central Valley, New York. Though we have raised some funds for our event, we need your support to pay for other necessary expenses.

The celebratory event will provide a culturally enriching day of programs for the community to celebrate the most important time of year in the Chinese culture - the annual Chinese New Year celebration. The Chinese New Year celebration project comprises of performances filled with traditional Chinese cultural heritage from the students of the Orange Country Chinese School and professional adults. Community volunteers come together with professional artists to host a celebration as a family-oriented event, open to the public - a dinner celebration is included in the project, where food is both brought in from attendees and a local catering business.

We anticipate over 350 people attending this event. We are hoping that our project might be of interest to you as an opportunity to promote your products and company through a sponsorship arrangement. We can offer a variety of sponsorship methods to suit your budget, for example:  If you support us, we will include you in the program brochure, to our website, to our Newsletter, and plan on recognizing your organization at our event.

1. Platinum ($500) Sponsorship - we would reserve for you a full page back cover advertising space in the event brochure.

3. Sliver ($200) Sponsorship - we would reserve for you a half page advertising space in the event brochure.

4. Bronze ($100Sponsorship - we would reserve for you a quarter page advertising space in the event brochure.

Hi everyone,
We are quickly approaching our annual Chinese New Year celebration on February 9th! The OCCA Board members, OCCS teachers, parents, and students, have spent a lot of time and effort preparing, from getting cafeteria decorations, creating and practicing the program, to working with individuals and businesses for advertisements and donations, etc. Our goal is to create a special night that all of us will enjoy to celebrate the most important time of year in the Chinese culture. We cannot achieve it alone; your support is vital for our success. Your participation is the best support and encouragement for our work.
Please provide us the following information before Jan 30, 2013:
1) Are you attending? Please answer yes or no
2) If yes, how many attendees?
3) Please state what dish you are bringing
Thank you,
OCCA President,
Ping Lu

Hi everyone,
After careful consideration, we believe it would be best for the potluck party to start at 4:00 PM then hold our annual New Year Celebration Party at 6:30 PM on February 9th. We will have a raffle ticket drawing right after the show. Here is the rough schedule for the celebration:
4:00 ~ 6:00 Potluck / Social event
6:30 ~ 8:30 Chinese New Year Celebration
8:30 ~ 9:30 Raffle ticket drawing
9:30 ~ 12:00 am More celebration in cafeteria – poker game, karaoke, dance, chess
Additionally, I would appreciate if everyone could donate a wrapped gift for the raffle! It can be a small gift or anything you find in your house, and there will be more winners. :-) Please drop off wrapped gifts this Saturday (1/12), next Saturday (1/19) during rehearsal!
Thank you very much for all your time and effort so far. The big day is coming up!
Ping Lu

Defensive Driving

By popular demand and for the benefits of our OCCA members, our Association is now partnered with the American Safety Council to offer the 6 hour defensive driving course online.  You may take the course in the comfort of your own home.  You do not have to complete the course in one sitting.  You may log out and then pick up where you left off.

The listed price is $34.50, but we were able to get a discounted price of $21.00 for our members.  In addition to saving 10% on your car insurance, the course also removes up to 4 points from your license.

Please follow the link below to register and pay for the course.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  Enjoy!

Dear All OCCA members,

A quick update of today's OCCA Donation event for Sichuan Earthquake Victims:

First of all, I would like to thank you for your showing-up and your generous support, which once again, like support of 911 victims, demonstrates the passion and strength of our community.

The outcome of today's event is magnificent and fruitful, from 9:30AM to 13:30 PM, just three hours, a total of $4576.00 monetary donations were collected plus employer's gift-matching $500 to be received. These are totaled about $5076.00.

OCCA board decided to make additional matching donation of about $1000.00 in such to make total monetary donation of $6,000.00 to the earthquake victims. OCCA issues a check of $6000.00 payable to Chinese Consulate General in New York for Earthquake Relief Donation. On Monday May 19, the check will be handed in to the Consul of Chinese Consulate General in New York by one of our OCCA member Mr. Zhu, who will be applying his Visa to China on Monday. A formal receipt of earthquake relief donation is expected to receive and I will keep you posted on this.

Special thanks to the students in Chinese School who donated their allowances from few dollars to tens as they want to show their cares and sympathy to the students in the earthquake area. Also the thanks to Orange County School of Dancing who donates $100. Heung/Xiangyu Cheng (New York Buffet) donate $1000, Lu Ping/Eunice Yun donate $500, Jinlin Du/Yujuan Zhao donate $500, Jimmy Cheung/Yul Chen donate $300?and there are more on the list.

For the OCCA issued receipts, please ask if any gift-matching program you can be entitled to and OCCA will facilitate the requirement if this is doable in your case.

If, for some reason, you could not make today appearance and would like to make a contributuion, please do let us know and we will add them up to the total.

All are appreciated deeply and we wish our effort can make little contribution to the earthquake victims.
